Hope of Children and Women Victims of Violence (HOCW)

As the world becomes increasingly connected through technological advancement, digital skills are essential for accessing services, education, employment, and economic opportunities. Recognizing this reality, HOCW offers basic computer and digital literacy training as part of its Economic Resilience & Sustainability pillar.

The program is designed to reduce digital exclusion among women survivors of violence, adolescents, and vulnerable caregivers, particularly refugees who often lack access to technology and formal digital education.

 

Program Purpose

The Basic Computer & Digital Literacy Program aims to:

  • Improve access to information and services

  • Strengthen employability and income-generation opportunities

  • Support learning, communication, and self-advocacy

  • Enable participants to engage safely and confidently in the digital space

 

Core Skills Covered

Participants receive hands-on training in:

  • Basic typing and keyboard skills

  • Creating, saving, organizing, and accessing files

  • Using the internet safely and effectively

  • Searching for information and services online

  • Setting up and managing an email account

  • Basic online communication for work and learning

Training is delivered at a pace appropriate for beginners and adapted to varying literacy levels.

 

Integration with Other HOCW Programs

Computer training is intentionally linked with:

  • Business Skills & Financial Literacy, including digital record keeping

  • Language & Integration Program, supporting online learning and communication

  • Livelihood initiatives (tailoring, hairdressing, catering, ICT, and crafts)

  • Job search, training applications, and resettlement processes

This ensures that digital skills are practical and immediately applicable.
